Tokyo Illustrators Society Presents

“Soap Bubbles Took Flight”♪Illustrations of Japanese Children’s Songs by 170 Illustrators

  • DATES : Mon. August 24 - Fri. September 18, 2009
  • HOURS : 11:00 a.m.* – 7:00 p.m. Closed Sundays and holidays. Admission free. *10:30 a.m. on opening day.

The gallery is pleased to host the 15th exhibition of works by members of the Tokyo Illustrators Society (TIS). For this year’s exhibition TIS members were asked to create illustrations of well-known children’s songs, nursery rhymes and the like. Works by some 170 artists will be on display. This topic was selected to put the spotlight on the country’s heartwarming childhood favorites in the current era of economic doldrums and numerous depressing events. We hope that in looking back on the beauty and simplicity of Japan’s poetic landscape, visitors will be refreshed and rediscover their joys of youth. The artists’ illustrations will be augmented by descriptions of the songs, and will be available for purchase.
