Artbility is an artbank. Its library, which can be accessed through its website, features numerous works of richly sensitive artistry – from high-spirited works drawn with unfettered freedom, to works of fine delicacy created with meticulous technical skill. All of Artbility’s registered artists pursue their craft despite having a handicap of some kind. Thanks to the existence of this artbank, the registered works by these artists have come to be used in many ways, including in printed works such as posters and pamphlets.

For this exhibition, CREATION GALLERY G8 invited 10 graphic designers to collaborate with Artbility’s registered artists. The result is a collection of posters and book covers featuring Artbility’s works: works of art achieved through the unusual collaboration of graphic designers and Artbility artists. Visitors to the gallery who respond to a simple questionnaire will be given a book cover of their choice free of charge.

The exhibition will also feature original drawings by Artbility artists available for purchase. Half of the proceeds will be donated by the artists to promote activities in support of disabled persons affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, an initiative being undertaken by the Japan Disability Forum (JDF). Allocation of the donations will be handled through the Japan Council on Disability. We eagerly invite you to come to the gallery and discover a work that strikes your fancy.
