TOKYO ILLUSTRATORS SOCIETY PRESENTS

158 SosekisTime Travel through a Century

  • DATES : Tue. September 16 - Thu. October 9, 2016
  • HOURS : 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Closed Sundays and holidays. Admission free.

The theme of this exhibition, the 22nd presented by the Tokyo Illustrators Society (TIS), is Natsume Soseki (1867-1916), one of Japan’s best-known and most admired novelists. His famous works include “I Am A Cat,” “Kokoro” and “Botchan.” 2016 marks the centennial of Soseki’s death, and to celebrate this much-loved literary genius whose works today are widely read in many languages, a total of 158 illustrations have been created to take visitors on a voyage back through time.

  • Takeo Chikatsu: “Soseki’s Inkwell with 4-Footed Knob”

  • Shiro Nishiguchi: “Kokoro”

  • Yukari Miyagi: “Soseki and Cat”

  • Nobuhiko Yabuki: “My Head Patter”
