TOKYO ILLUSTRATORS SOCIETY PRESENTS
This year’s TIS (Tokyo Illustrators Society) Exhibition, in keeping with the organization’s name, focuses on the eastern sector of Tokyo, a colorful area—known in Japanese as “Shitamachi,” the “lower city”—which includes Ginza, where the exhibition takes place. As TIS gears up to celebrate its 30th anniversary next year, this event will feature scenes of Shitamachi, where traditions handed down from Edo times meet the vibrant energy of today, depicted by 163 illustrators. Come and discover, or rediscover, this exciting area, Tokyo East.
Display and sale of 163 illustrations, mostly original artwork (some printouts). Size: 30cm x 30cm.
¥35,000 per illustration, including frame and taxes. At the request of the illustrator, works by the following members will not be for sale: Sonoko Arai, Hitomi Itoh, Osamu Kitamura, Taku Tashiro, Nobuhiko Yabuki (subject to change).
* Please note that all purchases must be paid in cash; payment by credit card will not be accepted.
Sale of Works on Opening Day
Anyone interested in making a purchase is invited to participate in a drawing by lots. Lots will be distributed in the gallery between 11:00 and 11:30 a.m. on August 22 (Tue). The drawing will commence at 11:30 a.m. to determine the order of purchasers, and purchasers will then select their desired illustration in that order.
* Visitors wishing to purchase an illustration but who arrive at the gallery after 11:30 a.m. on August 22 will need to wait until all participants in the drawing of lots have completed indicating their desired purchase. Works not yet sold will then be available on a first-come-first-served basis.
* Participants in the drawing of lots will each receive only one lot. Reservations for lots by telephone will not be accepted. Each lot can be used to purchase one item only.
Sale of Original Design T-shirts
T-shirts featuring an original illustration by Heisuke Kitazawa will be on sale in the gallery. Cooperation: KUME Co., Ltd.
