This year’s TIS (Tokyo Illustrators Society) Exhibition, in keeping with the organization’s name, focuses on the eastern sector of Tokyo, a colorful area—known in Japanese as “Shitamachi,” the “lower city”—which includes Ginza, where the exhibition takes place. As TIS gears up to celebrate its 30th anniversary next year, this event will feature scenes of Shitamachi, where traditions handed down from Edo times meet the vibrant energy of today, depicted by 163 illustrators. Come and discover, or rediscover, this exciting area, Tokyo East.
