Charity Exhibition 2007
Original Cups & Saucers Designed by 290 Creative Artists
Starting November 26 (Mon), Recruit will host its annual yearend charity exhibition at its two galleries, Creation Gallery G8 and Guardian Garden. This series of exhibitions was launched 17 years ago to let many people experience the enjoyment and pleasure that can be derived from art and design. Every year works created on a noncommercial basis by artists with links to the two galleries, both young designers and artists already active globally, are displayed and offered for sale, and the proceeds are donated to UNICEF Japan. The charity exhibitions are unique in having highly diverse participants vie through their respective means of creative expression, and every year they are greeted by high acclaim.
The theme of the 17th charity exhibition is cups and saucers. Whether you are just relaxing on the sofa, or taking a break from work, or chatting happily with a friend or family member, the ideal companion in every situation is a brew of tea, served in your favorite cup. So for this year’s charity event we settled on the theme of cups and saucers, and we asked the participating creative artists to design cup and saucer sets that will make tea time all the more enjoyable. Letting their imagination run free, some came up with designs of tasteful simplicity, while others opted for clever design contrivances that are recognized only when the cup and saucer are taken in hand. In all, 290 sets will be on display.
